Central Phoenix Saturday 8 AM SUMMER ONLY April-September

Bethany Home and Central Ave, Phoenix. We meet on the SE corner of this intersection, in the parking lot of the North Phoenix Baptist Church. (Note: The red star on the map does not indicate exact meeting spot.) This is our most popular run/walk. The group meets at 8:00 a.m. every Saturday morning. After introductions, we run/walk for 50 mins. The route follows Central north, along the shaded bridle path up to the canal and back - faster runners do an optional 1-2 mile extension along the canal bank. Following a 5 minute cool down stretch, the group goes out for breakfast.

Papago Park Saturday 8 AM WINTER ONLY October-March
Take McDowell or Van Buren to Galvin Parkway. Enter Papago Park / Phoenix Zoo from the only light (Entrance) on Galvin Parkway between McDowell and Van Buren (closer to Van Buren). At the zoo parking lot turn left and go to the farthest corner of the parking lot to the left.
This our most popular run/walk. The first 3-4 miles are rolling hills and a flat section along the canal. This is followed by a challenging 2 mile optional add-on taking in steeper terrain. Walkers generally do a 2-3 mile walk through the park.
As always, frontrunners are encouraged to bring their children and/or their pets. We meet back at the parking lot for a 5-10 minute cool-down stretch and then go to Hometown Buffet for breakfast. |
